Ottley Jr. has career night; Cougars run away --
The Cougars were up against the Blazers in this one. In the 1st 5 minutes of the game it was the Cougars dominating the pace. Cougars’ Elshan Mansourian would get a quick bucket off the opening tip. He’d then follow that up with a three and then find an open Anthony Ottley Jr. for three. After a Mansourian fast break bucket, Ottley Jr. would splash home another three. The Blazers’ Lorenzo Jacobs would stop the bleeding with an inside bucket and his team down 13-2. A few minutes later, Ottley would drain 4 straight threes to extend the Cougars lead to 30-9. With under 5 minutes, Ottley would again hit another three. By halftime, the Cougars lead 47-21 with Ottley leading the way with 27 points, including 6/10 from downtown.
To start the 2nd half, the Blazers’ Will Francis would spark his team up with back-to-back steals and assists followed by a bucket in transition. Cougars’ Chris O’Quinn would get a couple inside hoops extending their lead to 53-29. Under 14 minutes to go, Jacobs would find Francis in transition and then Francis would drain a three on the ensuing possession, trimming the Cougars’ lead to 59-41. However, Ottley Jr. proved to be too much on this night as he would continue the barrage and assault against the Blazers as the Cougars would run away with a 91-51 victory.
Ottley Jr. had a fantastic night with 49 points, including 7/13 from long range, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Mansourian pitched in with 16 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. O’Quinn had an efficient night going 3/3 from the field for 6 points and 10 rebounds. And Joshua Smith had a near triple-double with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists. They’ll be up against the Royals in their next outing. For the Blazers, Jacobs had a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Francis had a line of 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. They’ll be facing the Shottas in their next game.
